Food Packaging Supervisor

Green Top Farms was founded by a farmer-turned-public-school-teacher who was troubled by the lack of fresh, nutritious foods for many New York families. For the last ten years we have built a high volume food service, catering and delivery business. Throughout that time we have remained deeply involved in working to provide better food resources and education for school children, food pantries, and the broader community. We have also pursued our vision for a more sustainable and equitable food system. We spent the majority of our energies during the COVID Pandemic serving NYC City Agencies in the provision of food for the underserved, as well as non-profit agencies throughout NYC.

Our mission is to build a more sustainable and equitable food system, starting by reconnecting consumers and local farmers. We believe the results of strengthening that connection are better nutrition, more tasty food, greater social justice, and reduced environmental impacts. Our menus reflect this attention to bringing nutritious, delicious food to those who need it most. 

What You’ll Do:

• Ensure timely packaging of food products in coordination with the shipping department, meeting delivery schedules without compromising quality or food safety.
• Lead and supervise a team of 6-8 packaging associates, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to company standards.
• Verify that packaging associates strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures and Protocols (SOPs) for safe food handling, portion control, and hygiene practices.
• Oversee the accurate and efficient packaging of fresh food into trays and sealing for delivery in a refrigerated environment. Following any special requests or notes. 
• Ensure associates comply with company policies, including personal hygiene (GMPs), operational safety, and food safety guidelines.
• Maintain organized products adhering to the "First In, First Out" (FIFO) principle.
• Train team members in department-specific SOPs and monitor their adherence to ensure consistent daily operations.
• Monitor and ensure that food quality standards are maintained during packaging for both hot and cold foods.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills, fostering teamwork and ensuring clarity of instructions among team members and communication with other departments.

Who You Are: 

• NY Food Handler's Certificate/Card (Preferred)
• Must be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID with proof of vaccination (Required)
• 1+ year of high-volume Food Packaging or Food Prep experience (Required)
• Ability to carry over 50 pounds and remain standing for long periods of time
• A self-starter, efficient and problem-solver spirit, experience working on teams and enjoy being a team player
• Bilingual Strongly Preferred

Schedule: Shifts available - Sun - Thurs or Mon-Fri: 6am - 2:30pm 

Pay: $25/hr
